Microfabrication Center Manager: The Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology invites applications for a manager position at
the Microelectronics Fabrication Center. This is a University central
facility with state-of-the-art semiconductor processing equipment to
foster research and educational programs. First phase of the facility
with a 250 square meter clean room is operational. Second phase with
650 square meter clean room will be completed in early 1996. The
facility will have basic processing modules including e-beam, stepper,
diffusion and LPCVD furnaces, PECVD, sputtering, dry etchers, wet
benches. In addition, it will have packaging capability and an active-
matrix LCD line.
The manager will be responsible for the daily operations, safety
procedures, equipment purchase and installation, financial and
personnel administration. Applications should have at least a B.S.
degree in a relevant subject, and over 10 years of experience in the
semiconductor field. The monthly salary ranges from HK$ 58,800 to
78,990 (conversion rate is approximately HK$ 7.7 to US$ 1).
The starting salary will be commensurate with the qualification
and experience of the candidate. Generous fringe benefits
include medical and dental coverage, annual leave, children's
educational allowances. Housing where applicable is also provided.
Initial appointment will be on a three-year contract. A gratuity equals
to 25% of the total salary drawn will be payable upon successful
completion of the contract. Eligible staff will join the university's
superannuation scheme if offered re-appointment. Applicants should
