Dear Labnetwork members,

One of the action items that came out of the 12/10/95 meeting in Washington
was to refine our statement of purpose and to send it, along with a simple
announcement of our activities to key industry (SIA) people.

This action item was completed last week. The recepients of the cover letter
were:

Lance Glasser (ARPA), Al MacLachlan (DOE), Bill Spencer (Sematech), Larry
Sumney (SRC), Jim Glaze (SIA), Paul Peercy (Semi/Sematech), Bill Brinkman
(AT&T), Yoshio Nishi (T.I.), and John Pierce (National).
This set of people was chosen because they were the participants of the
Semeatch
advisory board meeting that took place at IEDM.
(Jim Prendergast from Motorola was also there, but we could not locate his
mailing address. Any leads will be appreciated.)

The text of the letter was as follows:

>> Dear XXX
>>
>> About a year ago, the faculty directors of many University
>> Microfabrication Facilities initiated a series of meetings designed
>> to frame our common research and administration issues. A brief
>> inital meeting took place in December of 1994, followed
>> by two one-day meetings in February of 1995 and December of 1995.
>> These meetings were open to representatives from all US academic
>> microfabrication facilities. About 20 such facilities were represented
>> covering a wide range of facility size and research scope. These meetings
>> are expected to continue on a regular basis. You can find the detailed
>> agendas and minutes from these meetings on the web at
>> http://www-mtl.mit.edu/labnetwork/labnetwork.html.
>>
>> The purpose of this letter and the enclosed statement is to
>> make you aware of this activity. We also want to ask for your cooperation as
>> we continue our efforts to serve the industrial and academic communities
>> that depend on our facilities.

>> Sincerely
