Wow, you're bringing back some ancient memories to your friendly
Labnetwork list maintainer with mention of x11kic and cgdirect. I had
some minor involvement with modifications to those tools at MIT well
over a decade ago. Are you sure you really want to keep them alive?
We've been doing everything we can here to wean ourselves from them,
and kill them.
(1) x11kic. That's an X11 front end to Kic that Bob Harris and I
worked on way way back. We basically took the old Berkeley MFB
program interface (an interface to graphics terminals -- back when
there was specialized hardware for graphics terminals) and created an
x11mfb library, then linked in Kic. I *think* this still exists at
MIT, and I can locate some source code for x11mfb and the kic
interface, but I don't even know if it still compiles.
(2) kictocif - I think this is buried inside the kic distribution.
(3) cgdirect - Ugh! Wow, this is getting even older still. Do you
really have a gyrex mask making tool!? The code for this goes way
back to circa 1980 by John Wroclawski and Steve Garverik at MIT. I
remember making some minor modifications in the mid to late 1980's to
keep it running. We retired this years ago; again, I think I can
dredge up some source code, but can't speak of it's viability.
Let me know if you really want this stuff, and I can tar something up
for you. But I think you're probably in better shape to find
something (anything!) else for layout.
