The NNUN (National Nanofabrication Users' Network) is pleased
to announce BioMEMS '99, a workshop and symposium designed
to introduce researchers to the interdisciplinary field of microfab-
rication engineering and biology.
This event will be held on Oct. 8-9, 1999. On Friday, Oct. 8, Prof.
Greg Kovacs will teach an introduction to bioMEMS, showing how
basic processes widely used in electronics manufacturing can be used
to design and build biosensors. This will be held from 1-5 pm at the
CIS Auditorium, Stanford University.
On Saturday, Oct. 9, a full, one-day symposium will be held from 9 am
- 5 pm in N225 on the UC San Francisco campus. Invited speakers
will address a variety of topics, including biosensors, gene chips and
other bioanalytical devices, microfluidics, and nanoelectronics. This
program is designed to be of interest not only to novices in the field,
but also to biochip researchers wanting a broader background in the
engineering aspects of this field.
