Posters
Format
Poster must fit within a 4 X 4' space, preferably using
most of that space. The structure supporting each poster will be 4 X
8' feet boards standing on top of thin classroom tables -- two different
posters will be placed on each board. Note that during the process of attaching
the poster to the board, the boards may be taken off the table and placed
on a flat surface is desired.
We recommand that the posters be in Microsoft's PowerPoint format in order
to allow the slides to be plotted onto a single sheet. By doing so, the
presentation can be easily transported as a single rolled-up sheet, is
easy to setup, and can be easily printed and distributed on standard letter-size
sheets (8.5 X 11"). In addition, we encourage the
placement of these posters outside of office areas in MTL after the conference.
They can be an advertisement for your research, so
please take the time to make them aesthetically pleasing.
Plotting Instructions
The floowing are tips for printing large format posters using Microsoft
PowerPoint. An EECS plotter has been made available for use at no charge.
Posters can also be plotted at FedEx Kinko's if you are unable to make
the submission deadline, but you must arrange payment on your own (Note
that FedEx Kinko's offers MIT personnel a discount on their services; please
call to confirm pricing and availability).
- Define the size and orientation. File > Page Setup. Decide
whether the poster's printed orientation is going to be landscape (wide)
or portrait (long). Although the width of the plotter is 36 inches, the
maximum printable area is 34 X 48".
- Create your beautiful poster.
- Save your poster in PowerPoint (PPT) or Portable Document Format (PDF)
and sent it to poster05@mtl.mit.edu by
January 19. You will be informed when you can claim your poster.
- If you want to print an 8.5 inch by 11 inch mini-version of your poster,
change the size to 8.5 X 11" under Page Setup and
print it out on your printer as usual.
