Marco de FazioMarco de Fazio

STMicroelectronics

Marco holds a master degree in Nuclear Engineering from “Politecnico di Milano,” with specialization in solid state physics.

Since 2001, he has worked for STMicroelectronics with a focus on lab-on-chip design, fabrication, and analog front-end with expertise in sensors’ electrical characterization. From 2002, he worked in an R&D group developing instrumentations for lab on chips, in particular designing the Hardware for the STs’ “In Check” platform (www.st.com/labonchip ). From 2003 to 2005, he was at National Nanotechnology Lab in Lecce attending a joint lab between INFM and ST developing applications in the lab-on-chip and chemical sensor fields. Since then he worked for ST-AST (Advanced System Technologies) in Agrate (Milano, northern Italy)  developing microfluidics devices for Healthcare applications. He worked in several European Research Projects and currently is Assistant Professor at the “Politecnico di Milano” for the “BIOCHIP” course group. Since 2008, he worked on MEMS, photonics and microfluidics, with a focus on applications and prototyping of demos. He is leading the “More than Moore” research lab with the mission of supporting product divisions with longer term research. He was tutor of several master thesis and PhDs works with strong collaborations with European universities.

He currently has the role of Scientific Advisor for "More than Moore" research with the aim of exploring new fields for silicon technology applications supporting division in non-conventional longer-term research in the field of sensors (MEMS, MOEMS etc.), healthcare, and optical systems. He is also a visiting scientist at MTL-MIT with a focus on GaN and Graphene, sure to utilize MIT’s research at the industrial level.
