Prof. Jing Kong to serve as Associate Director of MTL

Dear MTL colleagues and friends,

Earlier this term, we learned of the appointment of Prof. Evelyn Wang as Associate Department Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department. In order to concentrate on this important assignment, Evelyn decided to step down as Associate Director of MTL. It has been a privilege to have Evelyn in the leadership team of MTL. I am grateful for her service to MTL and the nano community at MIT and wish her best of luck in her new responsibilities.

I am delighted to announce that Prof. Jing Kong, Professor of Electrical Engineering, has agreed to serve as Associate Director of MTL starting immediately. Prof. Kong received her B.S degree in Chemistry from Peking University in 1997 and PhD degree in Chemistry from Stanford University in 2002. She joined the faculty at MIT in 2004. The research focus of her group is on the synthesis, characterization and applications of various nanomaterials. She is world renowned for the chemical vapor deposition synthesis of graphene and other two dimensional materials, and the investigation of their electronic and optical properties and applications.
