Insulator or superconductor? Physicists find graphene is both

March 7, 2018

When rotated at a "magic angle," graphene sheets can form an insulator or a superconductor.

A team lead by Pablo Jarillo-Herrero has found that a "superlattice" of two graphene sheets stacked together but rotated with respect to each other at a precise angle behaves as a superconductor.
