The Microsystems Technology Laboratories (MTL) at MIT is an interdepartmental laboratory supporting research and education in micro- and nano- systems. MTL was established in the mid-1980s inside the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. Over the years, MTL has evolved and grown into an Interdepartmental laboratory reporting to the Dean of the School of Engineering, reaching across the entire Institute.

These photos have been watermarked to protect their usage. You can request photos of the MTL leadership team, including the Director and Associate Directors, as well as our building and facilities. These photographs are provided to promote news or events associated with the Microsystems Technology Laboratories only. No commercial use of these photographs will be permitted under any circumstance. Any other use must be discussed and approved by MTL.

MTL Logotypes can be used on presentations, papers, websites, and other publications within or supported by MTL. The MTL logo is a three-color graphic with three discs representing three foci of MTL research: circuits, fabrication technology, and systems. It was designed in 2004 by Mara Karapetian with input from MTL leadership and faculty.
The MTL logo was designed to follow the same guidelines and principles as the official MIT logo. Please refer to these guidelines when placing the MTL logo in your publication.
