Integrated Systems Approach


The MIT ITS research strategy is based on an Integrated Systems Approach. Various aspects, described in the figure below, are addressed concurrently:



System Design


What about methodology? The design of an Incremental Conversion Process from current to final system is the key to our methodology. Final system architecture should be chosen to make the incremental conversion process easy.




Our ITS is developed as part of the Super Infrastructure, an "intelligent and global foundation for tomorrow." Here are the benefits of adapting to such an infrastructure:

  1. Integration of transportation, communication, and other infrastructures.
  2. Integration of infrastructures (i.e. roads) and users (i.e. cars).
  3. Integration of technical, social, economical, political, and other aspects.
  4. Integration of ITSs in different countries.
