Position Available - Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Washington, Seattle
MEMS Laboratory

Overview

Prof. Karl Böhringer’s MEMS lab is inviting applications for a
postdoctoral research position beginning in Spring 2008 in the area of
highly parallel templated batch assembly technologies for
microelectronics applications. This project is a collaboration with
Intel Corporation. Appointments will be for one year with the
possibility of reappointment on an annual basis in accordance with
performance and applicable personnel policies. Salary is dependent on
qualifications.

Requirements

Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree in Electrical
Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related
engineering disciplines in 2005 or later. Good analytical skills,
multidisciplinary research experiences, innovative problem solving
abilities, good communication skills and familiarity with silicon
microfabrication processes are desired. A strong background in
chemistry or chemical engineering (esp. surface interactions, thin
films, polymers) would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

Design, build and test various batch assembly methods. Analytical
modeling of assembly processes. Writing of scientific publications and
grant proposals. Mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.
