[labnetwork] Polishing tool

We have a low-cost polisher from Allied High Tech
http://www.alliedhightech.com/Equipment/metprep-1™-grinder-polisher
which is used to polish the ends of waveguides. Wafers are mounted on
either a wedge polishing or cross-sectioning jig (also from Allied High
Tech).
It's best to put it next to a sink, in a dirty lab.

I suggest plugging it into a foot-pedal which acts as a dead-man's switch.
It's handy for stopping the wheel without taking your hands off the jig, and
it's a good safety device to reduce the risk of injury. It's a spinning
wheel that
you'll want to supervise much like a band saw or a drill press. Keep some
bandaids
nearby.
