[labnetwork] COVID-19 Plans?

Dear all,

Many of you may have been asked for - or are already thinking about - plans
to manage the situation in our shared facilities in light of the COVID-19
(corona virus) situation. I'm curious about what, if anything, you have
implemented or planned so far...

Here at the Univ of Michigan LNF, we have not made any big changes at this
point but here are the steps that we have taken or planned:
- we've added daily cleaning of all shared surfaces accessed when people
have no gloves (computer room, conference room etc) and provided
antibacterial wipes in these areas;
- we are planning to add the ability to wash hands (or access hand
sanitizer) at the entrances to our lab spaces and more strictly enforcing
the "first put gloves on before doing anything else" rule;
- we are developing protocols that would avoid the current practice of
cleanroom garment bags being potentially passed on from one user to the
next (cleanroom garments are never shared and sent to the laundry every
week, and face masks, bouffant caps and gloves are disposed of at every lab
exit).
- we are supporting staff telecommuting for the (few) duties that can be
done remotely. This could be expanded if needed but would start impacting
the level of lab operations and services provided to our community;

Any thoughts or other ideas/concerns?

Thanks
Sandrine
