Dear Abbie,

Thank you for reaching out thanks to Meredith's introduction. This is incredibly generous of you to want to help get PPE to medical professionals right now.

My brother and my sister in law are both MDs at major hospitals Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the Los Angeles area, and they desperately need PPE and garments to keep themselves, their patients, and their families safe during this outbreak. The shortages are real, and the risks for medical teams working without PPE are immense. Many doctors and nurses in their hospitals are already out sick with coronavirus, and it will amplify the public health disaster if skilled medical workers keep getting sick, as we're seeing in Italy already.

I can organize hand-offs to USC Keck Hospital and possibly UC Irvine and Cedars-Sinai in LA through the network of doctors I'm in touch with on the front lines.

I'm already doing a small grassroots drop-off this week at USC Keck Hospital. But if we can tap into your network of cleanroom construction workers for another drop-off in the coming days, that would be incredible!

Next steps would be:

- You all can let me know the approximate amount and types of PPE available to donate, once you determine that.

- I will help arrange well-coordinated, small scale drop-offs at hospital(s) from multiple sources, or consolidate the PPE from your sources for a single drop off at hospital(s). This depends in part on how much is available and where it's located. If it's spread farther in a large network, we could consider engaging a group like https://www.donateppe.org/ to help distribute. But ideally we can keep this even more direct to the local hospitals where I'm helping with donations.

Please let me know what you all come up with and know that even the act of reaching out means the world to me and the people on the front lines right now. I can also be reached anytime this week at 347-693-3564.

First of all, I am glad to hear you are in good health, and will be thinking of you family at this time.
