Thomas:
Here is what we are using at Hewlett Packard Labs:

Cleaning Protocol
Objective: Keep Cleanroom free of particles by cleaning floor and other surfaces
Note: Must gown up in cleanroom
Process:

  * Mop floor with cleanroom mop and water
  * Empty recycling and waste bins - 6 dome bins-4 located in each cleanroom aisle, 1 service chase, and 1 gas corridor AND 2 bins in gown room stainless steel dispenser.
  * Do not empty or touch red Hazardous waste bins
  * Vacuum floors- use green Cleanroom vacuum only- not Nilfisk vacuums dedicated to tools
Emergency

  * Safety first! Get out if Fire or gas alarm goes off
  * Alarms: Blue light or high pitched siren with flashing strobe light- exit the building.
  * Spill kits- contain absorbent materials. Test all unknown liquids with Ph paper before cleaning up.
  * Eye wash station- form perimeter to spill. Test liquid with Ph paper. If green, Ph= 7, then is water (if they know how and are comfortable). Proceed to form perimeter to spill with PIG absorbers from spill kit
  *   See attached Emergency booklet
Clean floors frequency: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Clean walls, glass windows: Monthly, first Wednesday of the month
Vacuum floors to remove big particles, then mop with water
Equipment: Cleanroom mop/bucket, lint-free wipes, Ph paper (provided by HPE).
Dirty mop water can be dumped outside on the concrete pad drain (see photo for location, half way in, towards building)

Blue Sticky Mat Cleaning
Objective: Clean sticky mats, which trap dirt and particles from getting into cleanroom
Sticky mats- important defense in keeping particles out of the cleanroom.
Stick mat locations: Gown room, double door entrance to gas corridor, outside each of four service chase door in gas corridor, inside each of four service chase doors leading to cleanroom, and outside emergency exit door

Equipment Needed: Dycem squeegee, Dycem foam mop, spray bottle, Dycem cleaner.
Outside cleanroom- wear blue booties OR Prudential shoe covers, gloves, and frock and hairnet
Process:

  * Dilute cleaner into spray bottle, 20 parts water, 1 part cleaner
  *   Spray mat with cleaner
  * Squeegee back and forth (north to south, east to west), pulling dirt off the map
  * Do not let water accumulate on the black borders of the mat!
  * Divide mat into half or thirds sections, do one section at a time
  * End by using mop to get dirt off the floor (should already be off the mat).
  * See video at: https://youtu.be/x6ZdJprJGEk and attached Dycem detailed instruction sheet.
Cleaning frequency:  Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Cleaning time:  After 6pm
Equipment provided by Cleanroom Manager for Dycem mop and squeegee. You provide spray bottle, regular mop and bucket
Reorder point: Tell Clearnroom Manager when down to ¼ bottle of Dycem cleaner.

Hazardous Waste Red bin Process
Monthly rotation duty for all users, not cleaning service crew
Process:

  * Empty three hazardous waste cans each month
  * Fill out hazardous waste form correctly
  *   Seal bag
  * Put hazardous waste on white cart in service chase
  * Sign monthly form indicating completion.
Equipment needed: plastic bags (lab stock), hazardous waste forms, gloves (gown room)
